Deptford Dub Club

Fox & Firkin, 316 Lewisham High Street, London SE13 6JZ
18/05/25 - 18:00

Tessa was the bassie throughout the career of legendary sonic warriors The Slits, who’s seminal 70s LP “Cut” was produced by Dub-master Dennis Bovell. The inimitable Tessa draws from a deep love of the music and selects from a mighty collection, mostly amassed back in the day. Her deep and heavy, dubwise sets are always a great pleasure and are consistently warmly received, both at the D.D.C. and at diverse venues like the I.C.A., the BFI and the London Ska Festival.

Another of our amigos, Ras Danny Dread, ( also known as Ras Danny Mosiah,) will be putting the needle to the groove on the wheels of steel too, to close the show. The mighty Danny will need no introduction to regulars at The Deptford Dub Club, as he is a stalwart. He’s more widely known through his work with the monumental Jah Shaka Soundsystem, over many decades. His sets are always wicked. We’ll also be introducing Dirt Bike Dub. The vibrant Edie can be relied upon to warm up proceeding with aplomb.

Resident selector, Soft Wax, will also be spinning, after Dirt Bike Dub. Expect a carefully chosen selection of Ska, Rocksteady and early Reggae from him early on. Then he’ll be joined by the usual instrumental and vocal accompanists. Our resident singjay, the mighty Doc Murdoc, will be MCing throughout the session. Waxy will be accompanied by very special guests, including our fresh horns crew, led by Tombone ( Dub Pistols ) and Natty ( RaSamurai.) Also guesting on the mic will be various club favourites.
