Deptford Dub Club: Reggae All Dayer

50 Years of Deep roots: The Vocalists
Fox & Firkin, 316 Lewisham High Street, London SE13 6JZ
22/06/25 - 14:00

The annual Deptford Dub Club Reggae Mini-Festival will take place at The Fox and Firkin on 22nd June. This all-day celebration of sound and culture will commence in the venue’s expansive garden with a family-friendly afternoon programme, before moving indoors for an evening session in traditional Soundsystem style.

We are honoured to present two distinguished co-headliners.
Jerry Dammers, founder of The Specials and the pioneering 2 Tone Records label, will deliver a curated “Revival” DJ set. Dammers is internationally acclaimed for penning politically charged anthems such as Ghost Town and Free Nelson Mandela, and for his continued innovation through projects like the Spatial A.K.A.

Joining him is the legendary Neville King, a seminal figure in the evolution of UK reggae.

The event will also feature celebrated selectors Soft Wax, Drop da Biscuit, and Vandorta, each bringing their own expertise in roots and revival reggae. Vandorta, known from Soul Jazz Soundsystem and Sounds of the Universe, is a returning favourite at the D.D.C.

This year’s programme places a particular emphasis on the deep roots reggae era of the mid-1970s, focusing on seminal vocalists such as Dennis Brown, Johnny Clarke, Horace Andy, and Gregory Isaacs, alongside the pioneering work of producers like Bunny Lee, Niney the Observer, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and King Tubby.
